OpenTX Reference Guide 20 – Radio Setup

Use the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons to highlight the required parameter.

Press ENT to edit the parameter.

The radio setup parameters are described in the following table.

 

FIELD

DESCRIPTION

Date

Format YYYY-MM-DD

Set and display the current date.

Time

Format HH:MM:SS

Set and display the current time in 24 hour format

Battery Meter Range

On the main screens is displayed a battery voltage bar graph. The range of the bar graph is from V1 to V2.

V1 range is from 4.0 to (V2 – 0.1) volts.

V2 range is from (V1 + 0.1) to 16 volts.

Default is 6.0 – 8.0 volts. (for a NiMH battery)

Sound Modes are

  Quiet      no sounds are played.

  Alarm     only alarms sounds are played.

  NoKey    plays all sounds except key presses.

  All           all sounds are played.

Volume – Master Volume of all sounds.

  Move slider to set master volume. Default is 50%.

Beep Volume (Relative to Master)

  Move slider to set beep volume. Default is 50%.

Beep Length

  Move slider to set length. Default is 50%.

Beep Pitch (Increase default pitch)

  Default pitch is 0 Hz. Range is 0 to 300 Hz.

Wav Volume (Relative to Master)

  Move slider to set wav file volume. Default is 100%.

Bg Volume ( Relative to Master)

  Move slider to set background music volume.

  Default is ~ 80%.

Variometer

  Volume

  Pitch to Zero

  Pitch to Max

  Repeat at Zero

The variometer tone indicates increasing and decreasing altitude.

Volume

  Move slider to set volume. Default is 50%.

Pitch to Zero

  Pitch of vario tone when altitude is constant.

  Default is 700 Hz. Range 300 to 1100 Hz.

Pitch to Max

  Pitch of vario tone at max climb rate.

  Default is 1700 Hz. Range 900 to 2500 Hz.

Repeat at Zero

  Delay between beeps at ‘Sink Min’

  Default 500 mS. Range is 200 to 1000 mS.

  (Delay between beeps at ‘Climb Max’ is 80mS.)

Haptic

  Mode

  Length

  Strength

Haptic vibration can occur on events that produce sound.

Haptic Modes are

  Quiet      no vibration is played.

  Alarm     vibration only for alarms.

    NoKey   vibrates on all events except key presses.

  All           Vibrates on all events.

Length

5 settings for vibration duration.

Default setting is 3.

Strength

5 settings for vibration strength.

Default is setting 3.

Contrast

Contrast of the display.

Range is 0 to 45. Default is 25.

The display contrast changes as the setting changes.

Alarms

  Battery Low

  Inactivity

  Memory Low

  Sound Off

Alarms are events which produce sounds and/or haptic vibration.

Battery Low

Voltage for low battery alarm. Default is 6.5V.

Recommended voltage is 7.0V.

Inactivity

Time, after all controls are not moved, that an alarm is produced. Default time is 10 mins.

Range 0 to 250 minutes. 0 disables alarm.

Memory Low

Tick the box to enable an alarm when memory is low. Default is on.

Sound Off

Tick the box to produce an alarm if sound is turned off. If sound is off, no sound alarms are produced. Default is on.

Backlight

Screen backlight controls.

Mode (Events that turn on the screen backlight.)

  OFF                always off.

  Keys               buttons only.

  Controls          sticks and switches (not pots or sliders).

  Both                Keys and controls.

  ON                  always on.

Default is Both.

Duration

Range is 0 to 600 sec. Default is 10 sec.

Brightness

Range is 0 to 100. Default is 100.

Color

Range of 18 settings. Default is 1. On Taranis Plus, 18 = blue.

Alarm

Tick the box to turn on the backlight when there is an alarm. Default is off.

Splash Screen

Duration that the splash screen is displayed for on power up.

--- is no display.

Range is 2 to 15 sec. Default is 4 sec.

GPS Time Zone

Offset from Universal Coordinated Time (UTC).

Range is –12 to +12. Default is 0.

Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) is +10.

Australian Eastern Summer Time is +11.

GPS Coordinate Format

DMS   is Degrees, Minutes, Seconds.

NMEA    is National Marine Electronics Association standard.

Country Code

Selections are America, Japan, Europe. Default is America.

Voice Language

Choices are Czech, Deutsch, English, Espanol, Francais, Hungarian, Italiano, Polish, Portugues, Swedish, Slovak. Default is English.

Units

Choices are Metric, Imperial. Default is Metric.

Play Delay (sw. mid pos.)

Delay playing wav files associated with switch mid positions. Unless switch is in mid position for longer than this time, the wav file is not played. Range is 0 to 300 mSec. Default is 150mSec.

Default channel order

The order in which the Throttle, Aileron, Elevator and Rudder controls are allocated to channels when a new model is created.

All combinations of A, E, T and R are included. Default is TAER.

Mode

Allocation of Throttle, Aileron, Elevator and Rudder to sticks.

Choices are modes are 1, 2, 3 and 4. Default is mode 1.
