OpenTX Reference Guide 7 – Servos

There is one line of configurable parameters for each of the 32 channels.

Each parameter is described in the following table..

 

FIELD

DESCRIPTION

Channel Number

CH1 – CH32 Channel numbers 1 to 32.

Channel Name

Name can be up to 6 characters

Sub-Trim

This is the place to set the trim for each channel so that the servo horns are perpendicular to the control links. Set the trims here instead of in the Inputs or the Mixer.

The default value = 0.0.

The range is from –100.0% to +100.0% or PWM values 988uS to 2012uS)

Min

The default value is –100%. The default range is from –100.0% to 0.0%.

If ‘Extended Limits’ is ticked in the Model Setup screen, the range is changed to

 –150.0% to 0.0%.

Max

The default value is +100%. The default range is from 0.0% to +100.0%.

If ‘Extended Limits’ is ticked in the Model Setup screen, the range is changed to 0.0% to +150.0%.

Direction

The normal symbol is ‘->’.  The reversed symbol is ‘<-‘.

Curve

Select a predefined curve numbered from !CV32 .. !CV1, ---, CV1 .. CV32.

!CVn is a mirror image of CVn around the vertical axis.

After selecting the curve number, ENT LP opens the Curve screen.

The default number of points in a CV is 5 but can be from 2 to 17. The output value can be set for each point. Check the ‘Smooth’ box to smooth the curve. Exit when complete.

PPM Centre

The default is 1500uS. The range is from 1375uS to 1625uS

Sub-Trim Mode

  Mode.  When the sub-trim value is changed from 0.0, the output centre is shifted, the minimum and maximum remain the same.

  = Mode.  When the sub-trim value is changed from 0.0, the output centre is shifted, the minimum and maximum are also shifted but limited to +/-100%.

 

Servo Sub-Trim Types

Trims to Subtrims

ENT LP on the ‘Trims to Subtrims’ line adds all flight trims to their sub-trim values and then resets the trims to zero.

Output PPM Calculation

The default servo range is 0.0% +/-100.0%. This corresponds to PPM values 1500uS +/- 512uS.

The output PPM value in uS for each channel is calculated as follows.

 

PPM Pulse Width = (Servo Channelout x 512/100) + PPM Centre

 

where ..

 

    Servo Channelout  = Servo Screen output. The default range = 1500 +/- 512 uS.

                                                                           The extended range = 1500 +/- 768 uS.

 

 

PPM 100

When the servo range is 100%, the pulse width varies between 988 and 2012 uS.

PPM 150

When the servo range is 150%, the pulse width varies between 732 and 2268 uS.

 

A PPM (Pulse Position Modulation) signal is created from all the channel values and sent to the RF module to be transmitted as a frame every 22 mSec. i.e. about 45 times per second.

Refer to Internal RF Mode of External RF Mode in the Model Setup screen for details on the format of the transmitted signal.
